₺1 BILLION CRUISE PORT INVESTMENT FOR FETHIYE
The General Directorate of Infrastructure Investments under the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure has initiated the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) process for a world-class cruise port project in Babataşı Neighborhood, Fethiye. The project aims to position Fethiye as a major destination in Mediterranean cruise tourism.
According to a report by Turizm FM, the Ministry plans to develop a modern cruise port in Babataşı Neighborhood, Muğla’s Fethiye district. With the EIA process underway, the project is designed to create a high-capacity port capable of safely accommodating large cruise ships.
The project includes a berthing pier with a total usage area of 27,588 square meters, measuring 355 meters in length and 50 meters in width, along with a 136-meter back-of-house service area. The port will be able to serve large cruise ships exceeding 350 meters in length.
It is projected that the port will host 100 cruise ships and 120,000 passengers by 2030, increasing to 230 ships and 250,000 passengers by 2043. Following Bodrum and Marmaris, Fethiye is expected to become one of the region’s leading cruise hubs.
The construction phase, planned to last two years, will employ 65 people in the first year and 155 in the second year. During the operational phase, 35 personnel will be employed. The total investment cost has been announced as 925.658 million TL.
